DTC 98: Compressor Run Time Exceeded
NOTE:
DTC 98 may be falsely generated during function testing, clear DTCs and repeat Auto Test. If DTC 98 reappears, proceed with testing.
- Check Purple/Orange Wire For Short To Power
Turn air suspension off. Disconnect air suspension compressor relay harness connector. Turn air suspension on. If air compressor does not run, go to next step. If air compressor runs, repair short to power in Purple/Orange wire. Check system operation. - Check Compressor Connections
Visually inspect air compressor connections for corrosion or damage. Repair connectors if necessary. If connectors are okay, go to next step. - Check Compressor Ground
Turn air suspension off. Disconnect 4-pin air compressor motor connector. See Fig 1. Measure resistance between Black wires at 4-pin air compressor harness connector and ground. If either resistance measurement is greater than 5 ohms, repair open ground (Black) wire. If resistance is less than 5 ohms on both measurements, go to next step. - Check Purple/Orange Wire For Short To Ground
Measure resistance between Purple/Orange wire at 4-pin air compressor motor harness connector and ground. If resistance is 10 k/ohms or greater, go to next step. If resistance is less than 10 k/ohms, repair short to ground in Purple/Orange wire. Check system operation. - Test Compressor Relay
Reconnect 4-pin compressor motor connector. Disconnect compressor relay connector. Using a fused (30-amp) jumper wire, jump Black/Yellow and Purple/Orange wires at compressor relay harness connector. If air compressor does not run, go to next step. If compressor runs, compressor is okay, return to original test. - Check For Power To Relay
Measure voltage between Black/Yellow wire at compressor relay harness connector and ground. If battery voltage exists, go to next step. If battery voltage does not exist, repair open Black/Yellow wire. Check system operation. - Check Purple/Orange Wire For Open
Disconnect 4-pin compressor motor harness connector. Measure resistance of Purple/Orange wire between compressor relay harness connector and 4-pin compressor motor harness connector. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace air compressor assembly. If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, repair open Purple/Orange wire. Check system operation.
