DTC 50: Left Front Height Sensor Out Of Range
- Check Sensor Mounting
Turn air suspension off. Check left front height sensor ball studs and sensor mounting. Repair sensor ball studs or mounting brackets if necessary. If sensors are securely mounted and brackets are not bent, go to next step.
- Check For Power To Height Sensor
Turn ignition on. Disconnect left front height sensor. Measure voltage between Pink/White and Black/Pink wires at height sensor harness connector. If voltage is 4.5-5.0 volts, go to step 4. If voltage is not 4.5-5.0 volts, go to next step.
- Check Black/Pink Wire For Open
Measure resistance between Black/Pink wire at left front height sensor harness connector and ground. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair open Pink/White wire. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, repair open Black/Pink wire. See WIRING DIAGRAMS.
- Check For Steady 5-Volt Signal
Reconnect left front height sensor. Turn ignition on. Disconnect left front height sensor from ball stud. Measure voltage between control module connector C204 pin No. 7 (Pink/Black wire) and ground while exercising left front height sensor through full travel. See Figure. If voltage remains a steady 5 volts, go to next step. If voltage does not remain steady at 5 volts, go to step 6.
- Check For Short Between Pink/Black & Pink/White Wires
Measure voltage between control module connector C204 pin No. 7 (Pink/Black wire) and ground. If approximately 5 volts exists, repair short circuit between Pink/Black and Pink/White wires. If approximately 5 volts does not exist, replace height sensor. Check system operation.
- Check Sensor Signal Return
Reconnect left front height sensor. Turn ignition on. Disconnect left front height sensor from ball stud. Measure voltage between control module connector C204 pin No. 7 and ground while exercising left front height sensor through full travel. If voltage does not vary between .5-4.5 volts, go to next step. If voltage varies between .5-4.5 volts, check connector C204 for corrosion or damage. Recheck DTCs. If DTC 50 is retrieved, replace control module.
- Check For Short To Ground In Pink/Black Wire
Disconnect control module connector C204 (Black). Measure resistance between C204 pin No. 7 (Pink/Black wire) and ground. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, repair open Pink/Black wire. Check system operation.
- Check Height Sensor For Short To Ground
Disconnect left front height sensor. Measure resistance between control module connector C204 pin No. 7 (Pink/Black wire) and ground. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Pink/Black wire. If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, replace left front height sensor. Check system operation.
