Wheel Bearings: Installation

  1. With knuckle assembly positioned on press bed, position bearing in bearing bore of knuckle. Use Bearing Installer (T86P-1104-A3) to press bearing into knuckle. Install bearing snap ring. Install backing plate to knuckle, and tighten 4 bolts to 44-60 ft. lbs. (60-81 N.m). Using Hub Support (T89P-1104-A) and Hub Installer/Bearing Remover (T83P-1104-AH2), press hub into bearing.
  2. Prior to hub/bearing/knuckle installation, replace bearing dust seal on outboard CV joint. Remove seal using small hammer and screwdriver. Install new seal using Drive Tube (T83T-3132-A1) and Bearing Dust Seal Installer (T89P-1249-A). Ensure seal flange is facing outboard. Install hub and knuckle assembly on vehicle.
