Spindle Assembly (Front): Removal

  1. Turn air suspension off. Raise vehicle. See REPAIR PRECAUTIONS . Remove wheel. Remove brake caliper/anchor plate bolts. Remove caliper and rotor. Support caliper with wire.
  2. Remove anti-lock brake sensor. Remove hub spindle nut. If hub cannot be removed by hand, use slide hammer and hub adapter.
  3. Remove cotter pin and tie rod end nut. Using Tie Rod Remover (3290-D), separate tie rod end from spindle. Using Joint Separator-Stabilizer Bar Link (D88L-3006-A), remove stabilizer bar link at spindle.
  4. Loosen, but DO NOT remove, lower ball joint stud nut. Tap spindle boss to relieve stud pressure. Remove nut, and separate ball joint. Remove upper spindle pinch bolt. Spread slot, and remove ball joint stud from spindle assembly. See Figure.
