Riding Height Adjustment

NOTE: Perform Auto Test procedure before checking alignment or riding height. See AUTO TEST  under TESTING.
  1. Place vehicle on alignment rack or other hoist that supports vehicle on tires. Install NGS tester or equivalent to diagnostic connector (located in engine compartment near right/front strut tower), and perform Auto Test. See AUTO TEST  under TESTING for additional information. Vehicle must pass Auto Test at least twice in succession before beginning this procedure. Codes 11, 29 and/or 45 are accepted as passed.
  2. Turn ignition on. Inspect ride height sensor brackets. Replace bent or damaged parts. Install battery charger to keep battery charged during testing. Turn air suspension off. To determine Dimension "A", measure vertically from bottom edge of wheelwell lip to bottom of rim. See Fig 1. See RIDE HEIGHT SPECIFICATIONS table.

  3. If vehicle is not at proper trim height, use scan tool to perform Function Test to pump or vent appropriate air spring(s) until suspension is at correct ride height. See PUMP & VENT COMMANDS  table for command codes. For further information, see FUNCTION TEST  under TESTING & DIAGNOSIS.

  4. Re-measure ride height on all 4 corners of vehicle. When all corners are at correct ride height, enter air suspension height sensor trim detection function on scan tool. Using scan tool, enter 223 to access Left/Front, 224 for Right/Front, and 225 for Left/Rear height sensor detection.
  5. Adjust only one sensor at a time. To adjust front sensors, loosen lower sensor bracket bolts. See Fig 2. To adjust rear sensor loosen upper sensor bracket bolts. Slide sensor slowly up or down until a steady tone indicates sensor is at correct length. Tighten sensor bracket while keeping sensor at correct length.
  6. Re-measure ride height on all 4 corners of vehicle. When all corners are at correct ride height, Rerun Auto Test to verify service is complete.
