Removal & Installation (Front Suspension - Mechanical): SUBFRAME: Removal

  1. Disconnect negative battery cable. Install Engine Lift Bracket Set (014-00340) and Engine Support (014-00750) on engine. Raise and support vehicle. Remove front wheels. Using wire, support power steering gear from tie rod end.
  2. Remove dual converter "Y" pipe. Remove and discard lower control arm ball joint nuts. Using Tie Rod Remover (3290-D), separate lower control arms from steering knuckles. DO NOT  use a hammer to separate ball joint from steering knuckle.
  3. Remove steering gear-to-front subframe nuts. Remove screws retaining power steering return hose to subframe and position hose out of way. Disconnect height sensors from lower ball studs.
  4. Remove nuts from right front and right rear engine mounts. Remove stabilizer bar link from stabilizer bar. Remove left transaxle mount insulator at subframe through bolt.
  5. Using adjustable jackstands, support subframe where subframe contacts body. Remove and discard subframe-to-body bolts. Lower adjustable jacks and subframe. Lower subframe to floor or bench and transfer components to new subframe.
