Height Sensors

Height sensors are located at left front, left rear, right front and right rear of vehicle (left and right rear on 1997 models). Each height sensor measures difference between a set reference point and actual vehicle height, so Vehicle Dynamics Module (VDM) can respond to variations in riding height.

On a rough road, if average vertical speed and travel of wheels are above a predetermined level, struts/shocks are switched to firm position. This function has been designed to reduce bottoming out of subframe. VDM samples height sensors every 5 milliseconds to determine if rate of change is enough to require a firm strut/shock setting.
