System Test L: Charge Warning Never/Always On

  1. Check Circuit No. 1111 Voltage  - Turn ignition off. Disconnect EIC connector C256. Measure voltage between chassis ground and connector C256, terminal No. 9. If voltage is 11-16 volts, go to next step. If voltage is not 11-16 volts, check fuse No. 26 (10-amp) and replace if necessary. If fuse is okay, repair circuit No. 1111 (Purple wire) between fuse panel and EIC and retest.
  2. Check Circuit No. 298 Voltage  - Leave EIC connector disconnected. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Measure voltage between chassis ground and connector C256, terminal No. 20. If voltage is 11-16 volts, go to next step. If voltage is not 11-16 volts, check fuse No. 28 (10-amp) and replace if necessary. If fuse is okay, repair circuit No. 298 (Purple/Orange wire) between fuse panel and EIC.
  3. Check Circuit No. 904  - Check continuity between connectorC256 terminal No. 18 and voltage regulator terminal "I". If resistance is 5 ohms or less, go to next step. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair Light Green/Red wire and retest.
  4. Disconnect EIC connector C255. Turn ignition on. Check voltage at connector terminal No. 21 (Red/Yellow wire). If battery voltage exists, go to next step. If voltage does not exist, check fuse No. 5 (10-amp) and Red/Yellow wire. Repair as necessary and retest.
  5. Check Ground Circuit  - Leave EIC connector disconnected. Turn ignition off. Measure resistance between connector C256, terminal No. 10 and connector C255, terminal No. 27. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace message center indicator. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, check for open or short in circuit No. 359 (Gray/Red wire) or circuit No. 875 (Black/Light Blue wire).
