System Test J: Tachometer Inaccurate

  1. Perform ON-DEMAND SELF-TEST. See MODULE COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK article. If vehicle passes, go to next step. If vehicle does not pass, repair data link circuit. See MODULE COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK article.
  2. Compare tachometer reading with RPM reading on NGS tester (from PCM). If RPM readings agree, no problem is indicated at this time. If RPM readings do not agree, replace EIC, then retest system.
