System Test A: Switch Module Buttons Do Not Work DTC B1205, B1208, B1209 & B1212
- Check Button Tone - Turn ignition on. Operate each button. If any or all buttons malfunctions, go to next step. If all buttons operate properly, no problem exists with switch module buttons at this time.
- Measure Circuit Resistance
- Turn ignition off. Remove switch module. Press specified switch module buttons in turn while measuring resistance between pins No. 2 and 4 of switch module. Press only one button at a time. See SWITCH MODULE RESISTANCE TEST "A" TABLE. If resistance is as specified, go to next step. Replace switch module if resistance is not as specified.SWITCH MODULE RESISTANCE TEST "A"
Button Ohms None Pressed 16,900-17,900 DTE.ECON 5400-5800 TRIP 2900-3100 DISPLAY 900-1000 RESET 300-400 - Press each switch module button in turn while measuring resistance between pins No. 2 and 5 of switch module. Press only one button at a time. See SWITCH MODULE RESISTANCE TEST "B" TABLE. If resistance is as specified, go to next step. Button Ohms None Pressed 16,900-17,900 MENU 5400-5800 SELECT 2900-3100 SYSTEM CHECK 1700-1850 DISPLAY 900-1000 RESET 300-400 - Check Circuit Continuity - Disconnect EIC harness connector C256. Test specified wires for continuity between switch module harness connector C266 and EIC harness connector C256. See SWITCH MODULE WIRING CONTINUITY TABLE. If any wire is open, repair as necessary. If continuity exists for all wires, replace EIC, then retest system.
