System Test Q: Seat Belt Warning Never/Always On

  1. Turn ignition off. If seat belt indicator is lit, repair short to power of Dark Green/Light Green wire and retest. If seat belt indicator is not lit, go to next step.
  2. Perform ON-DEMAND SELF-TEST. See MODULE COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK article. If vehicle passes, go to next step. If vehicle does not pass, repair data link circuit.
  3. Ensure seat belt is not fastened. Turn ignition on. If seat belt indicator is lit and chime sounds, go to step 5). If seat belt indicator is not lit, repair Brown/Light Blue wire to control module and Black wire to seat belt switch and retest. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  .
  4. Ensure seat belt is not fastened. Turn ignition on. If seat belt indicator does not light, and chime sounds, repair Dark Green/Light Green wire to VIC and retest. If seat belt indicator is lit and chime does not sound, replace LCM and retest.
  5. If seat belt chime stop within 10 seconds and light turn off after one minute, go to next step. If system does not test as specified, replace LCM and retest.
  6. Fasten driver's seat belt. Turn ignition on. If seat belt indicator is lit and chime sounds, repair Brown/Light Blue wire or stuck switch and retest. If light and chime are off, system is okay.
