Test P: Unable To Enter Service Bay Diagnostics
NOTE:
For TEST "P" pin test connector locations. See Fig 1.
- If another STAR/SUPER STAR II tester is available, attempt to rerun SERVICE BAY DIAGNOSTICS. If still unable to enter SERVICE BAY DIAGNOSTICS, go to TEST N (CODE 80), BATTERY VOLTAGE LOW to check module power and ground. If problem is detected and repaired during TEST N, repeat SERVICE BAY DIAGNOSTICS under TESTING & DIAGNOSIS. If no problem is detected during TEST N, go to next step.
- Disconnect control module connectors. Check continuity of circuits No. 419 (Dark Green/Light Green wire), No. 432 (Black/Pink wire) and No. 844 (Gray/Red wire) between control module connectors and diagnostic connector See Fig 1. If continuity exists in all circuits, go to next step. If continuity does not exist in one or more circuits, repair circuits as necessary.
- Measure voltage between diagnostic connector circuit No. 419 (Dark Green/Light Green wire) and ground. Measure voltage between diagnostic connector circuit No. 844 (Gray/Red wire) and ground. Meter should indicate zero volt at both circuits. If zero volt for both measurements, go to next step. If battery voltage is present on circuits No. 419 and No. 844, repair short to battery as necessary. See Figure.
- Measure resistance between diagnostic connector circuit No. 419 (Dark Green/Light Green wire) and ground. Measure resistance between diagnostic connector circuit No. 844 (Gray/Red wire) and ground. Meter should indicate more than 10,000 ohms. See Figure. If resistance is more than 10,000 ohms for both measurements, replace control module. If resistance is 10,000 ohms or less on either circuit, repair short to ground as necessary.
NOTE:
Repeat SERVICE BAY DIAGNOSTICS under TESTING & DIAGNOSIS to verify repairs.
