Headlight Switch R & I

WARNING: Before repairing or removing any items on vehicles with air bags, see SAFETY PRECAUTIONS in STEERING COLUMN SWITCHES article.
  1. Disconnect negative battery cable. Insert hooked tool into slot-hole at base of headlight-switch knob to depress retaining spring clip and pull knob off shaft. See Fig 1-6. Remove dimmer knob/trim bezel from shaft.
  2. Remove left and right instrument panel horizontal trim moldings to allow access to cluster finish panel lower retaining screws. Remove all cluster finish panel retaining screws and remove panel.
  3. Remove headlight switch bracket-to-instrument panel screws. Pull bracket, with switch attached, from panel and disconnect switch harness connector. Remove switch lock nut to remove switch from bracket. To install, reverse removal procedure.
