Oil Pan: Installation

  1. Clean all gasket surfaces. Clean oil pan and inspect for damage. On Mark VII models, apply gasket sealer to pan gasket. Position gaskets in place and install oil pan.
  2. On Mustang models, apply gasket sealer to pan gaskets, position gaskets in place. Position oil pick-up tube assembly into oil pan. Lift oil pan into position and install oil pick-up tube. Install oil pan.
  3. On all models, tighten bolts to specification. See, in this article, TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  table. To complete installation, reverse removal procedure. Fill crankcase with oil. Start engine and check for leaks.


  1. Clean and inspect gasket surfaces. Clean oil pan and inspect for damage. Apply gasket sealer to oil pan gaskets and place into position. With oil pick-up tube assembly positioned in oil pan, install pick-up tube then install oil pan.
  2. Tighten bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  table. To complete installation, reverse removal procedure. Fill crankcase with oil. Start engine and check for leaks.
