Fitting Pistons
- Check piston-to-bore clearance. Machine or replace as necessary. All standard and oversize pistons are the same weight, which allows various sizes of pistons to be used without affecting engine balance.
- Standard pistons are color coded Red, Blue and Yellow on piston dome. If piston-to-bore clearance is in lower one-third of specifications, use Red piston. If clearance is in middle of specifications, use Blue piston. Use yellow piston if clearance is in upper one-third of specification. Use proper piston to obtain clearance specifications.
