Crankshaft Thrust Bearing
- Check crankshaft end play and replace thrust bearing (No. 3 journal) as necessary. To install thrust bearing, lubricate journal and thrust bearing with engine oil. Install thrust bearing, main bearing cap and tighten bolts finger tight.
- Pry crankshaft forward against thrust surface of upper half of bearing. While holding crankshaft forward, pry thrust bearing cap rearward. This will align thrust surfaces of both halves of bearing. Continue holding crankshaft forward and tighten thrust bearing cap to specifications.
