Speedometer Speed Indicator Jumps Up & Down Erratically

  1. Remove speed sensor from transmission. Check gear for worn teeth or missing retainer clip. If okay, go to next step. If not, replace drive gear and/or install retainer clip.
  2. Check wiring from EIM to speedometer sensor for intermittent opens or shorts by performing step 3) of SPEEDOMETER READS 0 AT ALL TIMES test. If wiring is okay, replace EIM. If not, repair wiring and connectors as necessary.
