Fuel Gauge CO Displayed
- Disconnect 14405/14401 harness connector located under instrument panel at fuse block. Using jumper wire, ground Yellow/White wire on mating harness side of (14401) connector. If CO is displayed, remove jumper wire and go to next step. If CS is displayed, remove jumper wire and go to step 4).
- Disconnect and remove EIM. Check continuity between Yellow/White wires at pin No. 11 of instrument cluster connector and pin No. 7 of (14405) connector. If okay, go to next step. If not, repair open in circuit.
- Reconnect harness connector and EIM connector. Check fuel gauge sending unit ground wire in trunk for good connection. Check continuity between pin No. 14 of EIM ground (Purple/Light Blue and Orange wires) and fuel gauge sending unit ground. If okay, replace EIM. If not, repair ground circuit as required.
- Measure resistance between pin No. 11 and pin No. 13 of EIC. Resistance should be between 15 and 160 ohms. If resistance is correct, wiggle wires and connector and check for intermittent contacts, then go to next step. If resistance is not correct, replace EIC.
- Reconnect (14405) harness connector. Lower fuel tank to access fuel gauge sending unit connector. Short sending unit harness connector with jumper wire. Place ignition switch in ACC position. If CO is displayed, repair open circuit in fuel gauge sending unit wiring. If CS is displayed, go to next step.
- Turn ignition off. Measure fuel gauge sending unit resistance at sender terminals. If reading is between 13-166 ohms, inspect sending unit wiring connector female terminals for damage or loose fit. Service as required. If resistance is incorrect, replace fuel gauge sending unit.
