Display Totally Blank
- Place ignition switch in ACC position. Check illumination of other EIM displays. If other displays are lit, replace EIM. If other displays are not lit, go to next step.
- Check illumination of tripminder. If tripminder is lit, go to step 6). If not, check tripminder and instrument cluster 4-amp fuses (Nos. 16 and 17). If fuses are okay, go to step 5). If fuses are blown, go to next step.
- Before replacing fuse(s), turn ignition off. Disconnect negative battery cable. Connect ohmmeter between Light Green/Purple wire at fuse block and ground. Check for short circuit. If short exists, repair circuit wiring. If not shorted, check Orange/Red wire from fuse box to instrument illumination module 8-wire connector for short circuit using same procedure.
- Place ignition switch in ACC position. Measure voltage at Light Blue/Pink wire of interior light relay. If reading is at least 10 volts, go to next step. If reading is less than 10 volts, repair:
- Light Blue/Pink wire from interior light relay to EIM pin No. 18 and tripminder.
- Light Green/Purple wire from fuse block to EIM pin No. 17 and tripminder.
- Place ignition switch in RUN position. Measure voltage at Light Blue/Pink wire at EIM connector. If voltage is at least 10 volts, go to next step. If voltage is incorrect, replace interior light relay.
- Check EIM connector terminals for dirt. Ensure connector is securely attached. If connector is okay, go to next step. If connector is not okay, clean terminals and properly secure connector to EIM.
- Disconnect EIM harness connector. Place ignition switch in RUN position. Measure voltage between Light Blue/Pink wire (pin No. 18) and Black/White wire (pin No. 13). If reading is greater than 10 volts, go to next step. If reading is less than 10 volts, repair Light Blue/Pink wire and/or Black/White wire (ground), behind instrument panel on right side of steering column.
- Disconnect EIM harness connector. Measure voltage between Light Green/Purple wire (pin No. 17) and Black/White wire (pin No. 13). If reading is greater than 10 volts, go to next step. If reading is less than 10 volts, repair Light Green/Purple wire and/or Black/White wire (ground).
- Remove EIM. Check instrument cluster ground terminal for good metal-to-metal contact. Ground terminal is located on shake brace, below instrument cluster. Service as required. If connection is okay, replace EIM.
