Description & Operation: Speedometer
The electronic digital speedometer is located in the center display section of EIM. It can display vehicle speeds from zero to a maximum of 85 MPH or 137 km/h.
Speed information is provided by a transmission-mounted variable reluctance speed sensor. This sensor also provides speed information directly to tripminder and cruise control module.
The speedometer will initiate a 2-second self-test sequence which will allow verification of speedometer display segment illumination when cluster is first turned on. If speedometer system is in good condition, the following display will be shown. See Fig 1 .
