Lower Control Arm Removal

  1. Turn off air suspension switch, located behind trim panel in left side of trunk. See Figure . Using a body hoist, raise vehicle. Remove wheels.
  2. Disconnect height sensor link from ball stud pin. See Figure . Remove and discard nut from tension strut. Remove dished washer from tension strut. See Fig 1 .
  3. Remove and discard lower control arm ball joint pinch bolt. Slightly spread steering knuckle pinch joint. Separate lower control arm from steering knuckle. DO NOT use a hammer to separate ball joint from steering knuckle.
  4. Remove and discard inner pivot bolt and nut. See Fig 1 . Remove lower control arm from tension strut.
CAUTION: DO NOT allow steering knuckle and axle shaft to extend or CV joint may be damaged.
