Removal & Installation (Tension Strut Bushing)

  1. Remove lower control arm. See LOWER CONTROL ARM (FRONT) under FRONT SUSPENSION REMOVAL & INSTALLATION  . Using Bushing Remover (T86P-5493-A5) and "C" Clamp (T74P-3044-A1) from Service Set (T86P-5493-A), remove tension strut bushing. See Fig 1 . The "C" clamp must be installed in a vise when servicing bushings.
  2. To install, use Bushing Installer (T86P-5493-A1) and "C" clamp. See Fig 1 . Coat bushing and bushing bore in lower control arm with vegetable oil. Tighten "C" clamp until bushing is installed.
CAUTION: Use only vegetable oil on bushing. DO NOT use petroleum based oil or brake fluid, as these will cause deterioration of bushing.
