Strut Assembly Inspection
- Gas-filled struts are nonadjustable and non-refillable and are serviced as an assembly. Before a strut is replaced because it is suspected to be defective, perform following checks.
- Check all tire pressures. Check torque of all strut and suspension mounting bolts and nuts. Check strut for obvious external damage.
- Check for fluid leakage by removing air spring solenoid on top of strut. See AIR SPRING SOLENOID under FRONT SUSPENSION REMOVAL & INSTALLATION . Check for oil film on air spring solenoid or oil saturated filter. Replace strut if leakage exists.
