Pinpoint Test FJ
- Turn ignition on. Press MCCA button. Check for chime tone. If chime sounds, go to step 2). Service warning chime module if chime does not sound.
- Turn ignition on. Press button with suspected problem. If beep occurs, no problem exists. Go to step 3) if there is no beep.
- Unsnap message center switch assembly from instrument panel. Check harness connections to switch circuit board. If connections are good, go to step 4). Service connector if connections are not good.
- Disconnect switch module. Remove EIC. Check for continuity between switch module harness pin No. 1 and cluster harness connector pin A29. See MCCA SWITCH CONNECTOR illustration. See Fig 1
. Also check for continuity between switch harness pin No. 4 and cluster harness connector pin C4. Go to step 5) if continuity exists between each pair of terminals. If continuity does not exist, repair open circuit between EIC and switch harness connector.
- Measure resistance between pin No. 1 and pin No. 4 of switch module connector while pressing button with suspected problem. Press only one button at a time.
- Replace MCCA switch assembly if measurements are not as specified. If measurements are as specified, replace EIC.
- SELECT button: 1700-2200 ohms
- RESET button: 800-900 ohms
- SYSTEM CHECK button: 350-480 ohms
