Pinpoint Test AJ

  1. Ensure engine oil pressure is okay. Disconnect wire to oil pressure sender. Connect jumper wire from connector to ground. Turn ignition on. If gauge indicates normal, replace sender unit. If gauge indicates low, remove jumper. Go to step 2).
  2. Disconnect battery ground cable. Remove EIC. Ensure continuity exists between pin C1 (circuit No. 31, White/Red wire) on EIC connector and wire to oil pressure sender. If continuity exists, go to step 3). If there is no continuity, repair open in circuit No. 31.
  3. Secure any unplugged connectors to prevent them from shorting. Disconnect wire to oil pressure sensor. Connect battery. Start engine; DO NOT  rev it. Measure resistance between terminal on oil pressure sender and a good engine ground. Monitor sensor resistance as engine is gradually revved up and down. Go to step 4) if resistance is less than 25 ohms. Replace sender if resistance is greater than 25 ohms.
  4. Disconnect battery ground cable. Check for continuity between oil pressure sender case and battery ground cable. Replace EIC if continuity exists. If no continuity exists, repair loose or corroded engine ground connections.
