Intake Manifold: Removal

  1. Disconnect negative battery cable and drain cooling system. Remove crankcase ventilation and evaporative purge hoses. Disconnect automatic choke heat tube.
  2. Disconnect accelerator cable and speed control linkage from throttle body. Disconnect vacuum lines at the intake manifold fitting. Remove distributor cap and wires as an assembly. Disconnect distributor vacuum hoses and wiring connector from distributor. Remove distributor.
  3. Disconnect upper radiator hose at engine. Disconnect heater hose and water pump by-pass hose at intake manifold. Disconnect water pump by-pass hose at coolant outlet housing.
  4. Disconnect wires at ECT, ACT, TP, ISC solenoid and EGR sensors. Disconnect injector wire connections, and fuel charging assembly wiring (SFI).
  5. Disconnect fuel evaporative purge tube (if equipped). Disconnect fuel supply and return lines. Remove upper intake manifold. Remove lower intake manifold.
