Valve Clearance Adjustment: Introduction

A positive stop rocker arm bolt eliminates the necessity (or ability) of adjusting the valve clearance. However, to compensate for any dimensional changes in valve mechanism, a .060" (1.52 mm) shorter, or a .060" (1.52 mm) longer replacement push rod is available.

To determine whether or not a longer or a shorter push rod is necessary, clearance between each rocker arm and valve stem must be checked.
