Speedometer Speed Indicator Jumps Up & Down Erratically

  1. Remove speedometer sensor from transmission. Check gear for worn teeth or missing retainer clip. If okay, go to next step. If not, replace drive gear and/or install retainer clip.
  2. Check wiring from EIM to speedometer sensor for intermittent opens or shorts by performing steps 3), 4), 5), 9) and 10) of SPEEDOMETER READS "0" WITH VEHICLE IN MOTION test. If wiring is okay, replace EIM. If not, repair wiring and connectors as necessary.
