Speedometer Consistently Too High Or Too Low

  1. Read all 3 steps of this test procedure before performing any step. Check odometer reading against mileage markers (or other known distance) for 10 miles. If odometer reads correctly, system is okay. If incorrect, go to next step.
  2. Remove speedometer sensor from transmission. Verify that correct drive gear is installed for vehicle transmission/axle/tire combination. If correct, go to next step. If incorrect, install correct gear and retainer clip.
  3. Check that correct drive gear is installed on transmission output shaft. If correct gear is installed, replace EIM. If incorrect gear is installed, install correct drive gear.
