Segments Missing Or Extra Segments "On"

  1. Place ignition switch in "ACC" position. Locate display test connector. On Continental, connector is taped to left courtesy light. On Mark VII, connector is attached to fuse block. Install jumper wire between test terminals.
  2. If display is unchanged, jumper wire is not making connection. Reposition jumper wire and retest. If display reads "01 FX 000118 (X may be a 5 or 6), go to next step. If not (anything else), replace EIM.
    NOTE: The "X" character is encircled on digital display.
  3. Depress message center "MILES km" switch 9 times to advance all segments of display. All segments should be on. If okay, go to next step. If not, replace EIM.
  4. Depress message center "MILES km" switch one more time. All segments should go off. If okay, go to next step. If not, replace EIM.
  5. Depress message center "MILES km" switch 2 more times. Segments should light, one at a time, from left to right. If only one segment lights at a time, system is okay. If 2 or more segments light at same time, replace EIM.
