Odometer Displays "S"

  1. Determine if original Non-Volatile Memory Module (NVMM) is installed in vehicle. Check for mileage sticker on door pillar. Remove EIM and check for NVMM service decal. If decal is White, NVMM is original, go to next step. If decal is White with additional decal, NVMM is replacement, system is okay.
  2. Remove NVMM from EIM. Turn on power to EIM and check odometer. Odometer should display "ERROR". Check odometer for "S" display. If "S" is illuminated, replace EIM and transfer old NVMM to new EIM. If "S" is not illuminated, replace NVMM. Affix sticker with original mileage to door pillar. Odometer should now be illuminated and odometer should read zero miles.
