Fuel Display Totally Blank
- Place ignition switch in "ACC" position. Check illumination of other EIM displays. If other displays are lit, replace EIM. If other displays are not lit, go to next step.
- Check illumination of message center. If message center is lit, go to step 6). If not, check message center and instrument cluster 4-amp fuses (Nos. 16 and 17). If fuses are okay, go to step 5). If fuses are blown, go to next step.
- Before replacing fuse(s), turn ignition off. Disconnect negative battery cable. Connect ohmmeter between fuse block Lt. Green/Purple wire (Circuit No. 797) and ground. Check for short circuit. If short exists, repair circuit wiring. If not shorted, check Orange/Red wire (Circuit No. 293) for short circuit using same procedure.
- Place ignition switch in "ACC" position. Measure voltage at Lt. Blue/Pink wire (Pin No. 8) of interior lamp relay. If reading is at least 10 volts, go to next step. If not, repair wiring in Circuit No. 293 (Lt. Blue/Pink wire) and 297 to fuse No. 17, from fuse No. 17 to ignition switch, and from ignition switch to battery.
- Place ignition switch in "ACC" position. Measure voltage at Lt. Blue/Pink wire (Pin No. 18) of instrument cluster connector. If voltage is at least 10 volts, go to next step. If voltage is incorrect, replace interior lamp relay.
- Check EIM connector terminals for cleanliness. Ensure connector is securely attached. If connector is okay, go to next step. If connector is not okay, clean terminals and properly secure connector to EIM.
- Disconnect EIM harness connector. Measure voltage between Lt. Blue/Pink wire (Pin No. 18) and Black/White wire (Pin No. 13). If reading is greater than 10 volts, go to next step. If reading is less than 10 volts, repair Lt. Blue/Pink wire and/or Black/White wire (ground).
- Disconnect EIM harness connector. Measure voltage between Lt. Green/Purple wire (Pin No. 17) and Black/White wire (Pin No. 13). If reading is greater than 10 volts, go to next step. If reading is less than 10 volts, repair Lt. Green/Purple wire and/or Black/White wire (ground).
- Remove instrument cluster. Check instrument cluster ground terminal for good metal-to-metal contact. Ground terminal is located on shake brace, below instrument cluster. Service as required. If connection is okay, replace EIM.
