Fuel Gauge Illumination Does Not Regulate

  1. Turn ignition switch to "RUN" and headlamp switch to "ON". Rotate headlamp switch and observe illumination changes of other cluster displays. If other displays respond to dim and brightness control of switch, proceed to step 2). If no response, service circuit as necessary.
  2. Connect voltmeter between gauge illumination circuit at instrument cluster and ground. Rotate headlamp switch and measure voltage change. If voltage change occurs, replace gauge. If voltage does not change, service circuit as necessary.
