Speedometer Speed Indicator Jumps Up & Down Erratically

  1. Remove speedometer sensor from transmission and check gear for worn teeth or missing retainer clip. If okay, proceed to step 2). If not okay, replace drive gear and /or retainer clip.
  2. Check wiring from EIM to speedometer sensor for intermittent opens or shorts by performing tests for SPEEDOMETER CONSISTENTLY TOO HIGH OR TOO LOW in this article. If wiring okay, replace EIM. If not okay, service wiring and connectors as necessary.
