Continental, Mark VII & Town Car

  1. Disconnect battery and connect EMC tester. Reconnect battery and turn ignition switch to "ACC". Observe speedometer display. If speedometer display is in MPH mode, proceed to step 4). If not in MPH mode, proceed to step 2).
  2. Disconnect tester connector C-2 at control module and observe speedometer display. If display in MPH mode, proceed to step 3). If not in MPH mode, proceed to step 5).
  3. Set tester at C-9. Press and hold tester SS button. Observe speedometer display. If speedometer switches to Km/h mode, replace control module and repeat test. If no change is made, proceed to step 4).
  4. Check circuit 506 (Red) for continuity between speedometer terminals and control module connectors. If continuity okay, replace speedometer electronics and repeat test. If not okay, service as necessary.
  5. Disconnect 18 pin flex circuit connector at instrument cluster. Check circuit 506 (Red) for short to ground between flex connector and control module connector. If circuit okay, replace speedometer electronics. If circuit not okay, service circuit as necessary.
