Fuel Message Failures

  1. Turn ignition switch to "OFF" and connect EMC tester. Press fuel buttons to "ON" and "HIGH". Turn ignition switch to "ACC". Press 4 keyboard buttons simultaneously and hold. Enter self-test command and advance to gallons message. If display is 7.7 GALLONS (EFI models), or 8.5 GALLONS (Non-EFI models), proceed to step 2).If any other display, or no display, replace control module and repeat test.
  2. Check circuit 501 (Lt. Blue) from control module to fuel gauge (including fuel gauge flex circuit) for open in circuit or short to ground. If circuit 501 is okay, system okay. If circuit not okay, service as necessary and repeat test.
