With battery cable disconnected, remove screws (3) attaching the upper access cover to the instrument panel pad. Remove one screw retaining the lower cluster applique cover below the steering column. Squeeze the lower half of the steering column shroud together and separate upper and lower halves. Remove the upper half of the shroud from the steering column.
Remove one screw attaching the PRNDL control cable wire to the steering column. Remove the heated back-light control knob. Reach under the instrument panel and depress the button on the side of the headlight switch while withdrawing the shaft and knob assembly. Remove the bezel. Reach under the instrument panel and disconnect the speedometer cable connector. Remove the Windshield Wiper/Washer control knob and bezel. Remove the cigar lighter from its receptacle. Remove screws (4) retaining the cluster front cover. Insert a right angle standard tip screwdriver along the edges of the finish panel, withdrawing the studs in sequence gradually around the periphery of the panel. Remove screws (2) from the cluster light baffle at the cluster top. Remove screws (4) retaining the cluster to the instrument panel. Pull the cluster away from the panel and disconnect the cluster feed plug from its receptacle in the printed circuit. Tilt the cluster out, bottom first, and move the cluster toward the center of the vehicle. To install, reverse removal procedure.
