  1. PRE-CHECK
    1. Check that all of the following conditions required for the brake system warning light (red indicator) to turn off are met:
      1. The ABS warning light are not illuminated.

        HINT:

If the ABS warning light remains illuminated, make sure that the conditions required for the ABS warning light to turn off are met.

Refer to PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE [11/2021 - ]

      2. The brake fluid level in the brake master cylinder reservoir assembly is not low.
      3. Ensure that the brake booster has sufficient vacuum.

        HINT:

When the vacuum inside the brake booster decreases, the brake system warning light (red indicator) comes on.

  2. CHECK VEHICLE CONTROL HISTORY (RoB) (ELECTRONICALLY CONTROLLED BRAKE SYSTEM AND ELECTRIC PARKING BRAKE SYSTEM)
    1. Using the GTS, check for Vehicle Control History (RoB).

Refer to VEHICLE CONTROL HISTORY (RoB) [11/2021 - ]

      Chassis > Brake/EPB > Utility

      Tester Display
      Vehicle Control History (RoB)

      HINT:

If vehicle control history (RoB) is stored when the electronically controlled brake system and electric parking brake system are suspended, the brake system warning light (red indicator) illuminates.

      Result

      Result Proceed to
There is no vehicle control history (RoB) for when the electronically controlled brake system was suspended. A
There is vehicle control history (RoB) for when the electronically controlled brake system was suspended. B

    Result:

PERFORM TROUBLESHOOTING AND REPAIR REGARDING VEHICLE CONTROL HISTORY (RoB)

Refer to VEHICLE CONTROL HISTORY (RoB) [11/2021 - ]

    NOTE:

After performing troubleshooting and repair regarding vehicle control history (RoB), clear the vehicle control history (RoB).

    Result:

    See step  3

  3. INSPECT BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER RESERVOIR ASSEMBLY

    Refer to ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION [11/2021 - ]

  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY - BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER RESERVOIR ASSEMBLY)
    1. Make sure that there is no looseness at the locking part and the connecting part of the connector.

      OK

      The connector is securely connected.

    2. Disconnect the D21 combination meter assembly connector.
    3. Disconnect the A1 brake fluid level warning switch (brake master cylinder reservoir assembly) connector.
    4. Check both the connector case and the terminals for deformation and corrosion.

      OK

      No deformation or corrosion.

    5. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      D21-11 (SW) - A1-1 (+) Always Below 1 Ω
