DTC C0506-12: Right Front Wheel Speed Sensor Circuit Short to Battery [11/2021 - ]: Procedure

  1. CHECK VEHICLE 
    1. Check if the vehicle is equipped with AVS.

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SENSOR GROUND CIRCUIT) 

    Procedure1

    1. Make sure that there is no looseness at the locking part and the connecting part of the connectors.

      OK

      The connector is securely connected.

      Pre-procedure1

    2. Disconnect the A108 front speed sensor RH connector.

      Procedure2

    3. Check both the connector case and the terminals for deformation and corrosion.

      OK

      No deformation or corrosion.

      Pre-procedure2

    4. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

      Procedure3

    5. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A108-5 (FR+) - A108-6 (FR-) Ignition switch ON 11 to 14 V

    REPLACE FRONT SPEED SENSOR RH. Refer to  REMOVAL [11/2021 - 03/2024]  , or refer to  REMOVAL [03/2024 - ]

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (FRONT SPEED SENSOR RH - BRAKE ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY) 

    Procedure1

    1. Make sure that there is no looseness at the locking part and the connecting part of the connectors.

      OK

      The connector is securely connected.

      Pre-procedure1

    2. Disconnect the A36 skid control ECU (brake actuator assembly) connector.
    3. Disconnect the A108 front speed sensor RH connector.

      Procedure2

    4. Check both the connector case and the terminals for deformation and corrosion.

      OK

      No deformation or corrosion.

      Procedure3

    5. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A108-6 (FR-) - Body ground Always Below 1.5 V

      Result

  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (FRONT SPEED SENSOR RH - BRAKE ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY) 

    Procedure1

    1. Make sure that there is no looseness at the locking part and the connecting part of the connectors.

      OK

      The connector is securely connected.

      Pre-procedure1

    2. Disconnect the A36 skid control ECU (brake actuator assembly) connector.
    3. Disconnect the A108 front speed sensor RH connector.

      Procedure2

    4. Check both the connector case and the terminals for deformation and corrosion.

      OK

      No deformation or corrosion.

      Procedure3

    5. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A108-5 (FR+) or A36-21 (FR+) - A108-6 (FR-) or A36-26 (FR-) Always 10 kΩ or higher

  5. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SENSOR GROUND CIRCUIT) 
    1. Make sure that there is no looseness at the locking part and the connecting part of the connectors.

      OK

      The connector is securely connected.

    2. Disconnect the e2 front speed sensor RH connector.
    3. Check both the connector case and the terminals for deformation and corrosion.

      OK

      No deformation or corrosion.

    4. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    5. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      e2-3 (FR+) - e2-1 (FR-) Ignition switch ON 11 to 14 V

  6. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SENSOR GROUND CIRCUIT) 
    1. Make sure that there is no looseness at the locking part and the connecting part of the connectors.

    2. Disconnect the Ae1 skid control sensor with suspension control wire RH connector.
    3. Check both the connector case and the terminals for deformation and corrosion.

      OK

      No deformation or corrosion.

    4. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    5. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Ae1-5 (FR+) - Ae1-6 (FR-) Ignition switch ON 11 to 14 V

  7. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SKID CONTROL SENSOR WITH SUSPENSION CONTROL WIRE RH - BRAKE ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Make sure that there is no looseness at the locking part and the connecting part of the connectors.

    5. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

  8. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SKID CONTROL SENSOR WITH SUSPENSION CONTROL WIRE RH - BRAKE ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Make sure that there is no looseness at the locking part and the connecting part of the connectors.

      OK

      The connector is securely connected.

    2. Disconnect the A36 skid control ECU (brake actuator assembly) connector.
    3. Disconnect the Ae1 skid control sensor with suspension control wire RH connector.
    4. Check both the connector case and the terminals for deformation and corrosion.

      OK

      No deformation or corrosion.

    5. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      Ae1-5 (FR+) or A36-21 (FR+) - Ae1-6 (FR-) or A36-26 (FR-) Always 10 kΩ or higher
