DTC C0500-1F: Left Front Wheel Speed Sensor Circuit Intermittent [11/2021 - ]: Procedure

  1. CHECK FRONT SPEED SENSOR LH (CHECK FOR FOREIGN MATTER) 

    Pre-procedure1

    1. Remove the front speed sensor LH.

      HINT: 

      w/o AVS: Refer to REMOVAL [11/2021 - 03/2024] , or refer to REMOVAL [03/2024 - ]

      w/ AVS: Refer to REMOVAL [11/2021 - 03/2024] , or refer to REMOVAL [03/2024 - ]

      Procedure1

    2. Check the front speed sensor LH.

      OK

      The front speed sensor LH tip is free of oil and foreign matter.

      HINT: 

      If foreign matter of 1mm x 1mm or more is adhered to the front speed sensor LH, this DTC may be stored.

      Result

  2. CHECK FRONT SPEED SENSOR ROTOR LH (CHECK FOR FOREIGN MATTER) 

    Pre-procedure1

    1. Remove the component with the front speed sensor rotor LH.

      HINT: 

      Refer to REMOVAL [11/2021 - 03/2024] , or refer to REMOVAL [03/2024 - ]

      Procedure1

    2. Check the front speed sensor rotor LH.

      OK

      The front speed sensor rotor LH is free of oil and foreign matter.

      HINT: 

      • If foreign matter of 1mm x 1mm or more is adhered to the front speed sensor rotor LH, this DTC may be stored.
      • The front speed sensor rotor LH is incorporated into the front axle hub sub-assembly LH.

        If the front speed sensor rotor LH needs to be replaced, replace it together with the front axle hub sub-assembly LH.

    REPLACE FRONT SPEED SENSOR LH AND FRONT SPEED SENSOR ROTOR LH 

    for front speed sensor LH (w/o AVS): Refer to REMOVAL [11/2021 - 03/2024] , or refer to REMOVAL [03/2024 - ]

    for front speed sensor LH (w/ AVS): Refer to REMOVAL [11/2021 - 03/2024] , or refer to REMOVAL [03/2024 - ]

    for front speed sensor rotor LH: Refer to REMOVAL [11/2021 - 03/2024] , or refer to REMOVAL [03/2024 - ]

    Result:

  3. CLEAN FRONT SPEED SENSOR ROTOR LH 
    1. Clean the front speed sensor rotor LH.
      NOTE:

      Do not use parts cleaner when cleaning the front speed sensor rotor LH.

  4. CLEAR DTC

    2. Clear the DTCs.

      Chassis > Brake/EPB > Clear DTCs

    3. Turn the ignition switch to off.

  5. PERFORM DEALER MODE (SIGNAL CHECK) INSPECTION (SPEED SENSOR CHECK) 
    1. Using the GTS, perform a Dealer Mode (Signal Check) inspection sensor check and check that speed sensor Dealer Mode (Signal Check) inspection items change from incomplete to complete. Enter the following menus: Chassis / Brake/EPB / Utility / Signal Check.

      HINT: 

      Refer to SIGNAL CHECK [11/2021 - ]

      Chassis > Brake/EPB > Utility 

      Tester Display
      Signal Check

      OK

      Speed sensor Dealer Mode (Signal Check) inspection items change from incomplete to complete.

      HINT: 

      The front speed sensor rotor LH is incorporated into the front axle hub sub-assembly LH.

      If the front speed sensor rotor LH needs to be replaced, replace it together with the front axle hub sub-assembly LH.

    REPLACE FRONT SPEED SENSOR LH AND FRONT SPEED SENSOR ROTOR LH 

    for front speed sensor LH (w/o AVS): Refer to REMOVAL [11/2021 - 03/2024] , or refer to REMOVAL [03/2024 - ]

    for front speed sensor LH (w/ AVS): Refer to REMOVAL [11/2021 - 03/2024] , or refer to REMOVAL [03/2024 - ]

    for front speed sensor rotor LH: Refer to REMOVAL [11/2021 - 03/2024] , or refer to REMOVAL [03/2024 - ]

  6. RECONFIRM DTC 

    Pre-procedure1

    1. Based on the Freeze Frame Data and interview with the customer, attempt to reproduce the conditions when the malfunction occurred.

      Procedure1

    2. Check if the same DTC is output.

      Chassis > Brake/EPB > Trouble Codes 

      HINT: 

      The front speed sensor rotor LH is incorporated into the front axle hub sub-assembly LH.

      If the front speed sensor rotor LH needs to be replaced, replace it together with the front axle hub sub-assembly LH.

    1. Clean the front speed sensor LH.
      NOTE:

      When cleaning the front speed sensor LH, make sure to clean the installation hole before installation.
