DTC P2796-12: Electromagnetic Oil Pump Circuit Short To Battery [11/2021 - 03/2023]: Procedure

  1. CHECK ANY OTHER DTCS OUTPUT (IN ADDITION TO DTC P2796-12) 
    1. Read the DTCs

      Powertrain > Stop and Start > Trouble Codes 

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      DTC P2796-12 is output A
      DTCs P2796-12 and P323A-19 are output B

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (EGND TERMINAL VOLTAGE)

    (Engine Stop and Start ECU)

    1. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Result

      Tester Connection Condition Result
      D40-8 (EGND) - Body ground Ignition switch ON Below 1 V

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    OK 

    USE SIMULATION METHOD TO CHECK. Refer to  HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING [11/2021 - ]

    NG

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (EGND TERMINAL VOLTAGE)

    1. Disconnect the transmission wire connector.
    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    3. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Result

      Tester Connection Condition Result
      D40-8 (EGND) - Body ground Ignition switch ON Below 1 V

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE TRANSMISSION WIRE 

    for A25A-FKS: Refer to REMOVAL [11/2021 - ]

    for T24A-FTS: Refer to REMOVAL [11/2021 - ]

    NG

  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (EGND TERMINAL VOLTAGE) 
    1. Disconnect the engine stop and start ECU connector.
    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    3. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Result

      Tester Connection Condition Result
      D40-8 (EGND) - Body ground Ignition switch ON Below 1 V

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE ENGINE STOP AND START ECU. Refer to  REMOVAL [11/2021 - ] 

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR (ENGINE STOP AND START ECU (EGND) - TRANSMISSION WIRE (EMP-)) 

  5. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (ENGINE STOP AND START ECU - OTHER TERMINALS)

    *a Component with harness connected
    (Engine Stop and Start ECU)

    1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      D40-9 (EMOP) - Other terminals* Always 10 kΩ or higher
      1. *: Except A28-8 (GND1) terminal

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    OK 

    GO TO DTC P323A-19. Refer to  DTC P323A-19: Backup Boost Converter "A" Circuit Current Above Threshold [11/2021 - 03/2023]

    NG

  6. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (ENGINE STOP AND START ECU - OTHER TERMINALS)

    1. Disconnect the transmission wire connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

    REPLACE TRANSMISSION WIRE 

    for A25A-FKS: Refer to REMOVAL [11/2021 - ]

    for T24A-FTS: Refer to REMOVAL [11/2021 - ]

  7. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (ENGINE STOP AND START ECU - TRANSMISSION WIRE) 
    1. Disconnect the engine stop and start ECU connector.
    2. Disconnect the transmission wire connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      D40-9 (EMOP) or B39-29 (EMP+) - Other terminals Always 10 kΩ or higher

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE ENGINE STOP AND START ECU. Refer to  REMOVAL [11/2021 - ] 

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
