DTC P162B-87: Lost Communication with Battery Monitor Module Missing Message [11/2021 - ]: Procedure

  1. CHECK BATTERY STATE SENSOR ASSEMBLY INSTALLATION CONDITION 
    1. Check installation condition of the battery state sensor assembly.

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    INSTALL BATTERY STATE SENSOR ASSEMBLY CORRECTLY. Refer to  INSTALLATION [11/2021 - ] 

    Result: 

    OK

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (POWER SOURCE CIRCUIT) 
    1. Check that the battery state sensor assembly connector is securely connected.

      OK

      The connector is securely connected.

    2. Disconnect the G29 battery state sensor assembly connector.
    3. Check the connector case and terminals for deformation or corrosion.

      OK

      No deformation or corrosion.

    4. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      G29-3 (+B) - Body ground Always 11 to 14 V

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR (BATTERY STATE SENSOR ASSEMBLY - AUXILIARY BATTERY) 

    Result: 

    OK

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU - BATTERY STATE SENSOR ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Disconnect the hybrid vehicle control ECU connector.
    2. Disconnect the battery state sensor assembly connector.
    3. Disconnect the compressor with motor assembly connector.
    4. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A27-28 (LIN3) - G29-2 (LIN) Always Below 1 Ω
      A27-28 (LIN3), G29-2 (LIN) or B64-3 (DOUT) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR (HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU - BATTERY STATE SENSOR ASSEMBLY) 

    Result: 

    OK

  4. CLEAR DTCS 
    1. Check for DTCs, and note down any DTCs that are output.

      Powertrain > Hybrid Control > Trouble Codes 

    2. Clear the DTCs.

      Powertrain > Hybrid Control > Clear DTCs 

    3. Turn the ignition switch off and wait for 30 seconds or more.

      Result

      Proceed to
      NEXT

    Result: 

    NEXT

  5. CLEAR DTCS (AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM) 
    1. Check for DTCs, and note down any DTCs that are output.

      Body Electrical > Air Conditioner > Trouble Codes 

    2. Clear the DTCs.

      Body Electrical > Air Conditioner > Clear DTCs 

    3. Turn the ignition switch off and wait for 30 seconds or more.

      Result

      Proceed to
      NEXT

    Result: 

    NEXT

  6. CHECK FOR DTCS 
    1. Turn the ignition switch to ON (READY) and wait for 17 minutes or more.
    2. Check for DTCs.

      Powertrain > Hybrid Control > Trouble Codes 

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      DTC P162B-87 is output. A
      DTCs are not output. B

    Result: 

    CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS. Refer to  CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS [11/2021 - ]

  7. CHECK FOR DTCS (AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM) 
    1. Check for DTCs.

      Body Electrical > Air Conditioner > Trouble Codes 

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      DTC B1498 is output. A
      DTCs are not output. B

    Result: 

    REPLACE HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU. Refer to  REMOVAL [11/2021 - ] 

    Result: 

    REPLACE BATTERY STATE SENSOR ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [11/2021 - ]
