Removal [09/2023 - ]: Procedure

  1. PRECAUTION 
    NOTE:

    After the ignition switch is turned off, there may be a waiting time before disconnecting the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal.

    Refer to BEFORE DISCONNECTING BATTERY [09/2023 - ]

  2. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE AUXILIARY BATTERY TERMINAL 

    Refer to REMOVAL [09/2023 - ]

  3. REMOVE REAR WHEELS 

    Refer to REMOVAL [09/2023 - ]

  4. REMOVE TOE CONTROL LINK SUB-ASSEMBLY SET LH

      *a Matchmark - -
      Nut - -
      1. Place matchmarks on the toe adjust cam sub-assembly, toe adjust plate and rear steering link assembly.
      2. Remove the nut, toe adjust cam sub-assembly and toe adjust plate, and separate the toe control link sub-assembly set LH from the rear steering link assembly.
        NOTE:

        Make sure to support the toe control link sub-assembly set LH using string to prevent damage to the ball joint.

      *a 2 mm (0.0787 in.) - -
      1. Remove the bolt and disconnect the wire harness from the rear axle carrier sub-assembly.
      2. Remove the nut.
      3. Install SST (attachment) onto the toe control link sub-assembly set LH so that there is a space of approximately 2 mm (0.0787 in.) between the arm and attachment.
        • SST: 09628-50010 
          1. 09628-05010
        NOTE:
        • Be sure to install SST because the rear axle carrier sub-assembly LH spacer may shift.
        • As SST may become damaged, make sure that the space between the arm and spacers is not 2 mm (0.0787 in.) or less.
      4. Using SST, remove the toe control link sub-assembly set LH from the rear axle carrier sub-assembly LH.
        • SST: 09628-50010 
          1. 09628-05010
        NOTE:
        • Apply molybdenum grease to threads and end of the SST bolt.
        • Do not damage the dust cover.
        • Make sure to attach the ball joint so that it is in a straight line with the bolt of SST.
        • Do not apply a torque of 160 N.m (1631 kgf/cm, 118 ft.lbf) or more to SST as it may be damaged.
  5. REMOVE TOE CONTROL LINK SUB-ASSEMBLY SET RH 
    1. Perform the same procedure as for the LH side.
  6. REMOVE REAR STEERING LINK ASSEMBLY

      1. Disconnect the connector (A).
      2. Disconnect the connector (B).

        HINT: 

        Release the lock before rotating the lock lever.

      3. Remove the bolt and separate the frame wire from the rear steering link assembly.

      1. Remove the 4 bolts and rear steering link assembly.
        NOTE:

        Do not drop the rear steering link assembly.
