DTC P1BF8-62: Hybrid/EV Battery Charger Coupler Temperature Sensor "A"/"B" Signal Compare Failure [12/2023 - ]: Procedure

  1. CHECK DTC OUTPUT (PLUG-IN CONTROL) 

    Pre-procedure1

    1. Enter the following menus:

      Powertrain > Plug-in Control > Trouble Codes 

      Procedure1

    2. Check for DTCs.

      HINT: 

      • P1BF8-62 may be output as a result of the malfunction indicated by the DTCs above.
        1. The chart above is listed in inspection order of priority.
        2. Check DTCs that are output at the same time by following the listed order. (The main cause of the malfunction can be determined without performing unnecessary inspections.)

    GO TO DTC CHART (PLUG-IN CHARGE CONTROL SYSTEM). Refer to  DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART [12/2023 - ]

  2. CHECK CONNECTOR CONNECTION CONDITION (AC CHARGER INLET CABLE CONNECTOR) 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 4

    NG (The terminals are not making secure contact or are deformed, or water or foreign matter exists in the connector) C

  3. CHECK CONNECTOR CONNECTION CONDITION (ELECTRIC VEHICLE CHARGER ASSEMBLY CONNECTOR) 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 1

  4. INSPECT AC CHARGER INLET CABLE (INLET AC CHARGING TEMPERATURE SENSOR 1 (POSITIVE SIDE) AND INLET AC CHARGING TEMPERATURE SENSOR 2 (NEGATIVE SIDE)) 

    Refer to INSPECTION [12/2023 - ]

    REPLACE AC CHARGER INLET CABLE. Refer to  REMOVAL [12/2023 - ]

  5. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (AC CHARGER INLET CABLE - ELECTRIC VEHICLE CHARGER ASSEMBLY) 
    WARNING:

    Be sure to wear insulated gloves.

    Pre-procedure1

    1. Check that the service plug grip is not installed.
      NOTE:

      After removing the service plug grip, do not turn the ignition switch to ON (READY), unless instructed by the service information because this may cause a malfunction.

    2. Disconnect the In1 AC charger inlet cable connector.
      NOTE:

      If the In1 connector is disconnected with the auxiliary battery connected, P0D56-15 may be detected. Check that the cable is disconnected from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal before proceeding work.

    3. Disconnect the J84 electric vehicle charger assembly connector.

      Procedure1

    4. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance (Check for Open)

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      In1-3 (TIL1) - J84-50 (TIL1) Ignition switch off Below 1 Ω
      In1-4 (GTI1) - J84-49 (GTI1) Ignition switch off Below 1 Ω
      In1-8 (TIL2) - J84-48 (TIL2) Ignition switch off Below 1 Ω
      In1-7 (GTI2) - J84-47 (GTI2) Ignition switch off Below 1 Ω

      Standard Resistance (Check for Short)

      In1-3 (TIL1) or J84-50 (TIL1) - Body ground and other terminals Ignition switch off 10 kΩ or higher
      In1-4 (GTI1) or J84-49 (GTI1) - Body ground and other terminals Ignition switch off 10 kΩ or higher
      In1-8 (TIL2) or J84-48 (TIL2) - Body ground and other terminals Ignition switch off 10 kΩ or higher
      In1-7 (GTI2) or J84-47 (GTI2) - Body ground and other terminals Ignition switch off 10 kΩ or higher

    5. Reconnect the electric vehicle charger assembly connector.
    6. Reconnect the AC charger inlet cable connector.

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
