Rear Motor Resolver Circuit [09/2023 - ]: Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2024 Lexus TX 500h. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (EV MOTOR CONTROL INVERTER ASSEMBLY - REAR MOTOR RESOLVER)
    WARNING:

Be sure to wear insulated gloves.

    Pre-procedure1

    • Check that the service plug grip is not installed.
      NOTE:

After removing the service plug grip, do not turn the ignition switch to ON (READY), unless instructed by the service information because this may cause a malfunction.

    • Disconnect the EV motor control inverter assembly connector.

    • Connect the cable to the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal.
    • Turn the ignition switch ON.
    • Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition Result
      J75-13 (RRF) - Body ground Ignition switch ON Below 1 V V
      J75-3 (RRFG) - Body ground Ignition switch ON Below 1 V V
      J75-19 (RSN) - Body ground Ignition switch ON Below 1 V V
      J75-17 (RSNG) - Body ground Ignition switch ON Below 1 V V
      J75-15 (RCS) - Body ground Ignition switch ON Below 1 V V
      J75-11 (RCSG) - Body ground Ignition switch ON Below 1 V V
      NOTE:

Turning the ignition switch to ON (IG) with the low voltage connector of the EV motor control inverter assembly disconnected causes other DTCs to be stored. Clear the DTCs after performing this inspection.

  2. CHECK REAR MOTOR RESOLVER
    WARNING:

Be sure to wear insulated gloves.

    Pre-procedure1

    • Check that the service plug grip is not installed.
      NOTE:

After removing the service plug grip, do not turn the ignition switch to ON (READY), unless instructed by the service information because this may cause a malfunction.

    • Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance (Check for Open)

Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition Result
      J75-13 (RRF) - J75-3 (RRFG) Ignition switch off 9.04 to 15.04 Ω Ω
      J75-19 (RSN) - J75-17 (RSNG) Ignition switch off 16.54 to 28.54 Ω Ω
      J75-15 (RCS) - J75-11 (RCSG) Ignition switch off 18.54 to 30.54 Ω Ω

      HINT:

To correct the variation of the measured resistance due to temperature, use the following formula to calculate the resistance at 20°C (68°F).

      R20 = Rt / {1 + 0.00393 X (T - 20)}

The calculation is based on the following:

      R20: Resistance at 20°C (68°F) (mΩ)

      Rt: Measured resistance (mΩ)

T: Temperature when the resistance is measured (°C (°F).)

      Standard Resistance (Check for Short)

Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition Result
J75-13 (RRF) or J75-3 (RRFG) - Body ground and other terminals Ignition switch off 1 MΩ or higher
J75-19 (RSN) or J75-17 (RSNG) - Body ground and other terminals Ignition switch off 1 MΩ or higher
J75-15 (RCS) or J75-11 (RCSG) - Body ground and other terminals Ignition switch off 1 MΩ or higher
