DTC U1150-87: Lost Communication with Hybrid Powertrain Control Module (Hybrid/EV Battery Local Bus) Missing Message [12/2023 - ]: Procedure

  1. CHECK DTC OUTPUT (HYBRID CONTROL) 

    Pre-procedure1

    • Enter the following menus:

      Powertrain > Hybrid Control > Trouble Codes 

    • Check for DTCs.

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      DTCs are not output A
      DTCs are output B

    Post-procedure1

    • None

    Result: 

    GO TO DTC CHART (HYBRID CONTROL SYSTEM). Refer to  DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART [12/2023 - ] 

    Result:

  2. CHECK HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU ASSEMBLY (HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU POWER SOURCE CIRCUIT) 

    Pre-procedure1

    • Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    • Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      (Hybrid Vehicle Control ECU Assembly)

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition Result
      D117-8 (+B1) - Body ground Ignition switch ON 11 to 14 V V
      B88-10 (+B2) - Body ground Ignition switch ON 11 to 14 V V

    Post-procedure1

    • Turn the ignition switch off.

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR (HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU POWER SOURCE CIRCUIT) 

    Result: 

    OK

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR 
    WARNING:

    Be sure to wear insulated gloves.

    Pre-procedure1

    • Check that the service plug grip is not installed.
      NOTE:

      After removing the service plug grip, do not turn the ignition switch to ON (READY), unless instructed by the service information because this may cause a malfunction.

    • Disconnect the J84 electric vehicle charger assembly connector.
      NOTE:
      • Before disconnecting the connector, check that it is not loose or disconnected.
      • Check the terminals of the connector for deformation and corrosion.
    • Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

    Post-procedure1

    • Reconnect the electric vehicle charger assembly connector.

    REPLACE ELECTRIC VEHICLE CHARGER ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [12/2023 - ]

  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU - ELECTRIC VEHICLE CHARGER ASSEMBLY) 
    WARNING:

    Be sure to wear insulated gloves.

    NOTE:
    • Before disconnecting the connector, check that it is not loose or disconnected.
    • Check the terminals of the connector for deformation and corrosion.

    Pre-procedure1

    • Check that the service plug grip is not installed.
      NOTE:

      After removing the service plug grip, do not turn the ignition switch to ON (READY), unless instructed by the service information because this may cause a malfunction.

    • Disconnect the D117 hybrid vehicle control ECU assembly connector.
    • Disconnect the J84 Electric vehicle charger assembly connector.
    • Disconnect the D25 shift control ECU (transmission floor shift assembly) connector.
    • Disconnect the C53 shift actuator ECU (shift control actuator assembly) connector.
    • Disconnect the j3 battery ECU assembly connector.
    • Connect the SST.

      HINT: 

      Refer to Instructions for Connecting SST [12/2023 - ]

    • Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      D117-9 (CA4H) - J84-15 (CA4H) Ignition switch off Below 1 Ω Ω
      D117-22 (CA4L) - J84-14 (CA4L) Ignition switch off Below 1 Ω Ω
      D117-9 (CA4H) or J84-15 (CA4H) - Other terminals and body ground Ignition switch off 10 kΩ or higher
      D117-22 (CA4L) or J84-14 (CA4L) - Other terminals and body ground Ignition switch off 10 kΩ or higher
      NOTE:

      Make sure that each connector between the electric vehicle charger assembly and hybrid vehicle control ECU is not loose or disconnected and its terminals are not deformed or corroded.

      Result

      Proceed to

      NG

    Post-procedure1

    • Disconnect the SST.
    • Reconnect the battery ECU assembly connector.
    • Reconnect the shift control actuator assembly (shift actuator ECU) connector.
    • Reconnect the transmission floor shift assembly (shift control ECU) connector.
    • Reconnect the Electric vehicle charger assembly connector.
    • Reconnect the hybrid vehicle control ECU assembly connector.

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [12/2023 - ] 

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
