Charging Indicator Circuit [12/2023 - ]: Procedure

  1. CHECK DTC OUTPUT (HEALTH CHECK) 
    1. Enter the following menus: Health Check.
    2. Check DTCs.

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      No DTCs are output A
      DTCs are output B
    3. Turn the ignition switch off.

    Result: 

    GO TO DTC CHART. Refer to  DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART [12/2023 - ] 

    Result:

  2. CHECK FOR VEHICLE CONTROL HISTORY (ROB) 
    1. Check for Vehicle Control History (RoB).

      Powertrain > Plug-in Control > Utility 

      Tester Display
      Vehicle Control History (RoB)

      Powertrain > Hybrid Control > Utility 

      Tester Display
      Vehicle Control History (RoB)

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      Vehicle Control History (RoB) not stored A
      Vehicle Control History (RoB) stored B
    2. Turn the ignition switch off.

    Result: 

    GO TO VEHICLE CONTROL HISTORY (ROB)

  3. READ VALUE USING GTS (CHARGING INDICATOR LIGHTING REQUEST) 
    1. Using the electric vehicle charger cable assembly, plug-in charge the vehicle.
    2. Read the value displayed on the GTS.

      Powertrain > Plug-in Control > Data List 

      Tester Display
      Charging Indicator lighting Request

      Powertrain > Plug-in Control > Data List 

      Tester Display Measurement Item Range Normal Condition
      Charging Indicator lighting Request Charging indicator lighting request ON or OFF Charging indicator light illuminated: ON
      Charging indicator light not illuminated: OFF

      Result

      The display changes according to the charging indicator light condition A
      The display does not change according to the charging indicator light condition B
    3. Disconnect the electric vehicle charger cable assembly.
    4. Turn the ignition switch off.

    Result: 

    GO TO AC CHARGING DOES NOT START (PLUG-IN CHARGE CONTROL SYSTEM). Refer to  AC Charging Does not Start [12/2023 - ]  

    Result:

  4. INSPECT EV CHARGER LID INDICATOR (CHARGING INDICATOR) 

    Refer to INSPECTION [12/2023 - ]

    Result

    Proceed to
    OK
    NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE EV CHARGER LID INDICATOR (CHARGING INDICATOR). Refer to  REMOVAL [12/2023 - ] 

    Result: 

    OK

  5. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (ELECTRIC VEHICLE CHARGER ASSEMBLY - EV CHARGER LID INDICATOR (CHARGING INDICATOR)) 
    WARNING:

    Be sure to wear insulated gloves.

    1. Check that the service plug grip is not installed.
      NOTE:

      After removing the service plug grip, do not turn the ignition switch to ON (READY), unless instructed by the service information because this may cause a malfunction.

    2. Disconnect the J84 electric vehicle charger assembly connector.
    3. Disconnect the I57 EV charger lid indicator (charging indicator) connector.
    4. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      I57-1 (PIL) - J84-12 (PIL) Ignition switch off Below 1 Ω
      I57-1 (PIL) or J84-12 (PIL) - Body ground and other terminals Ignition switch off 10 kΩ or higher

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG
    5. Reconnect the EV charger lid indicator (charging indicator) connector.
    6. Reconnect the electric vehicle charger assembly connector.

    Result: 

    OK 

    CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS. Refer to  CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS [12/2023 - ] 

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
