AC Line Insulation Malfunction [12/2023 - ]: Procedure

  1. SIMULATION TEST 
    WARNING:

    Be sure to wear insulated gloves.

    1. Perform plug-in charging using the charging cable (electric vehicle charger cable assembly) that the customer used.
    2. Check the condition of the power and error warning indicators on the charging cable (electric vehicle charger cable assembly).

      HINT: 

      For details on the status of the power and error warning indicators, refer to Charge Cable On-vehicle Inspection.

    GO TO ELECTRIC VEHICLE CHARGER CABLE ASSEMBLY INSPECTION. Refer to  ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION [12/2023 - ]

  2. CHECK CHARGING CABLE (ELECTRIC VEHICLE CHARGER CABLE ASSEMBLY) (USING A KNOWN GOOD CHARGING CABLE (ELECTRIC VEHICLE CHARGER CABLE ASSEMBLY)) 
    WARNING:

    Be sure to wear insulated gloves.

    1. Perform plug-in charging using a known good charging cable (electric vehicle charger cable assembly) that the customer used.
    2. Check the condition of the power and error warning indicators on the charging cable (electric vehicle charger cable assembly).

      Result

  3. CHECK HV BATTERY CHARGER WIRE (ELECTRIC VEHICLE CHARGER ASSEMBLY - CHARGING INLET) 
    WARNING:

    Be sure to wear insulated gloves.

    1. Check that the service plug grip is not installed.
      NOTE:

      After removing the service plug grip, do not turn the ignition switch to ON (READY), unless instructed by the service information because this may cause a malfunction.

    2. Check that the charging cable (electric vehicle charger cable assembly) is not connected.
    3. Disconnect the o1 electric vehicle charger assembly connector.
    4. Using a megohmmeter set to 500 V, measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      NOTE:

      Be sure to set the megohmmeter to 500 V when performing this test. Using a setting higher than 500 V can result in damage to the component being inspected.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      o1-1 (ACIH) - Body ground Ignition switch off 10 MΩ or higher
      o1-2 (ACIC) - Body ground Ignition switch off 10 MΩ or higher

      Result

      Proceed to

      NG
    5. Reconnect the electric vehicle charger assembly connector.

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE ELECTRIC VEHICLE CHARGER ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [12/2023 - ] 

    Result: 

    NG

  4. CHECK AC CHARGER INLET CABLE (CHARGING INLET - FLOOR WIRE CONNECTOR) 
    WARNING:

    Be sure to wear insulated gloves.

    1. Check that the service plug grip is not installed.
      NOTE:

      After removing the service plug grip, do not turn the ignition switch to ON (READY), unless instructed by the service information because this may cause a malfunction.

    2. Disconnect the no1 AC charger inlet cable connector.
    3. Using a megohmmeter set to 500 V, measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      NOTE:

      Be sure to set the megohmmeter to 500 V when performing this test. Using a setting higher than 500V can result in damage to the component being inspected.

      Standard Resistance

      no1-2 (ACIC) - Body ground Ignition switch off 10 MΩ or higher

    4. Reconnect the AC charger inlet cable connector.

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE FLOOR WIRE 

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE AC CHARGER INLET CABLE. Refer to  REMOVAL [12/2023 - ]
