DTC P0D0A-15: Hybrid/EV Battery Charging System Positive Contactor Control Circuit Short to Auxiliary Battery or Open [12/2023 - ]: Procedure

  1. CHECK DTC OUTPUT (HYBRID CONTROL)

    1. None.

      Procedure1

    2. Check for DTCs.

      Powertrain > Hybrid Control > Trouble Codes

  6. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (CHRB VOLTAGE) 
    WARNING:

    Be sure to wear insulated gloves and protective goggles.

    Pre-procedure1

    1. Check that the service plug grip is not installed.
      NOTE:

      After removing the service plug grip, do not turn the ignition switch to ON (READY), unless instructed by the repair Service Information because this may cause a malfunction.

    2. Connect the SST.

      HINT: 

      Refer to Instructions for Connecting SST [12/2023 - ]

    3. Disconnect the battery ECU assembly connector.
      NOTE:

      Before disconnecting the connector, check that it is not loose or disconnected.

    4. Connect the cable to the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal.
    5. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

      Procedure1

    6. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      j4-8 (CHRB) - Body ground Ignition switch ON Below 1 V
      NOTE:
      • Turning the ignition switch to ON with the service plug grip removed causes other DTCs to be stored. Clear the DTCs after performing this inspection.
      • If the ignition switch is turned to ON with the connectors disconnected, other DTCs will be stored. Be sure to clear the DTCs after the inspection.

    WARNING:

    Be sure to wear insulated gloves and protective goggles.

    1. Check that the service plug grip is not installed.
      NOTE:

      After removing the service plug grip, do not turn the ignition switch to ON (READY), unless instructed by the repair Service Information because this may cause a malfunction.

    2. Connect the SST.

      HINT: 

      Refer to Instructions for Connecting SST [12/2023 - ]

    3. Disconnect the battery ECU assembly connector.
      NOTE:

      Before disconnecting the connector, check that it is not loose or disconnected.

    4. Disconnect the No. 2 traction battery device box assembly connector.

    5. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the tables below.

    6. Connect the cable to the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal.
    7. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    8. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      j14-1 (CHRB) or j4-8 (CHRB) - Body ground Ignition switch ON Below 1 V
      NOTE:
