Removal [12/2023 - ]: Procedure

  1. DISCONNECT NO. 7 FUEL TANK BREATHER TUBE

      *1 No. 7 Fuel Tank Breather Tube *2 Canister (Charcoal Canister Assembly)
      *a Retainer *b Tab
      *c O-ring - -
      Pull Pull off
      Pinch - -
      1. Disengage the clamp.
      2. Lower the retainer to disengage it.
        NOTE:

        Do not remove the retainer.

      3. Disconnect the No. 7 fuel tank breather tube from the canister (charcoal canister assembly).
        NOTE:
        • Before disconnecting the No. 7 fuel tank breather tube, check that the No. 7 fuel tank breather tube and canister (charcoal canister assembly) are not dirty. If they are dirty, clean them.
        • The No. 7 fuel tank breather tube seals the No. 7 fuel tank breather tube and canister (charcoal canister assembly) through the O-ring. Therefore, be careful not to damage the connecting part or allow foreign matter to adhere.
        • Perform removal and installation work by hand. Do not use any tools.
        • If the No. 7 fuel tank breather tube and canister (charcoal canister assembly) are stuck, pinch the canister (charcoal canister assembly) and push and pull the No. 7 fuel tank breather tube to free them apart, and then disconnect the No. 7 fuel tank breather tube.
        • Do not damage the No. 7 fuel tank breather tube and canister (charcoal canister assembly), or allow foreign matter to enter inside the canister (charcoal canister assembly).
        • Protect the disconnected No. 7 fuel tank breather tube and canister (charcoal canister assembly) with a plastic bag.
  2. DISCONNECT NO. 2 FUEL TANK VENT HOSE SUB-ASSEMBLY

      *1 No. 2 Fuel Tank Vent Hose Sub-assembly *2 Canister (Charcoal Canister Assembly)
      *a Retainer *b Tab

      Pull Pull off
      Pinch - -
      1. Lower the retainer to disengage it.
        NOTE:

        Do not remove the retainer.

      2. Disconnect the No. 2 fuel tank vent hose sub-assembly from the canister (charcoal canister assembly).
        NOTE:
        • Before disconnecting the No. 2 fuel tank vent hose sub-assembly, check that the No. 2 fuel tank vent hose sub-assembly and canister (charcoal canister assembly) are not dirty. If they are dirty, clean them.
        • The No. 2 fuel tank vent hose sub-assembly seals the No. 2 fuel tank vent hose sub-assembly and canister (charcoal canister assembly) through the O-ring. Therefore, be careful not to damage the connecting part or allow foreign matter to adhere.
        • Perform removal and installation work by hand. Do not use any tools.
        • If the No. 2 fuel tank vent hose sub-assembly and canister (charcoal canister assembly) are stuck, pinch the canister (charcoal canister assembly) and push and pull the No. 2 fuel tank vent hose sub-assembly to free them apart, and then disconnect the No. 2 fuel tank vent hose sub-assembly.
        • Do not damage the No. 2 fuel tank vent hose sub-assembly and canister (charcoal canister assembly), or allow foreign matter to enter inside the canister (charcoal canister assembly).
        • Protect the disconnected No. 2 fuel tank vent hose sub-assembly and canister (charcoal canister assembly) with a plastic bag.
  3. DISCONNECT FUEL EMISSION HOSE

  4. REMOVE CANISTER (CHARCOAL CANISTER ASSEMBLY)

      Remove in this Direction - -
  5. REMOVE CHARCOAL CANISTER OUTLET GUIDE

  6. REMOVE LEAK DETECTION PUMP SUB-ASSEMBLY 

    HINT: 

    Perform this procedure only when replacement of the leak detection pump sub-assembly is necessary.

      1. Before removing the leak detection pump sub-assembly, blow air inside the canister (charcoal canister assembly) to clean it and ensure that all foreign matter has been removed.
        NOTE:
        • When removing foreign matter from the canister (charcoal canister assembly), use air only.
        • Do not use gasoline, thinner or other solvents.
      2. As shown in the illustration, disengage the 2 claws. Using a screwdriver with its tip wrapped with protective tape, press the leak detection pump sub-assembly upward to remove it.

      1. Check that there is no dirt, water or other foreign matter on the charcoal canister sub-assembly.
        1. Visually check that there is no foreign matter inside the charcoal canister sub-assembly.
        2. Hold the charcoal canister sub-assembly upside down and check that there is no foreign matter inside it.
        3. If there is any foreign matter in the charcoal canister sub-assembly, replace the canister (charcoal canister assembly).
